ALASKA CRUISE ON THE ENCORE

If you haven’t taken the opportunity to enjoy an Alaskan Cruise, what are you waiting for?? Not only is Alaska one of the most beautiful places in the world, it is also full of wildlife, fascinating cultures, awesome glaciers, and terrific people. Shopping for Native American treasures and other local sundries is both fun and educational. The best way to experience Alaska is with Norwegian Cruise Line. From action-packed wilderness adventures and extraordinary sightseeing on their shore excursions, to an extended sailing season, there are plenty of opportunities to find the perfect cruise vacation.

I cruised through the inner passage of Alaska on the Norwegian Encore, which set sail from Seattle’s beautiful waterfront. The ship has something for everyone, from a Go-Cart track to laser tag, from a giant casino with hundreds of slots and a great variety of table games to a fun game of Deal or No Deal. There is fantastic art all throughout the ship and several fun shops to explore. I’ll attach a brochure all about the Encore, but here are my favorite five things on this ship. Keep in mind I am a solo traveler so this will definitely not be for everyone. I’ll do a separate blog in the future on the family friendly activities (and there are many).

The Casino

I am a gamblin’ kind of gal so this is my number 1. I love the slot machines on this ship! Bet as low or as high as you like and watch those lights and listen to the sound of raking in that money. Keep in mind the casino is not open while in port. Probably a good thing or I may not have seen all the beautiful sights hehe. One morning I went to breakfast and found this coin pusher game, I stayed at it until the casino closed!

The Wine Pairing class

I do like my wine and this class teaches all about pairing wines and cheeses. Chardonnay tastes so much better when it is paired with the right soft Brie. So fun and educational! Keep in mind this does have a fee attached, but it is so well worth it.

Treasures Jewelry Store

Normally I am not a major jewelry connoisseur, but they give away nautical themed charms on almost a daily basis! It was so fun collecting the charms and just walking around the shop. They have more jewelry than I have ever seen in one place. If you love silver, make sure you check it out!

Los Lobos Mexican Restaurant

This is a Specialty Dining restaurant, meaning it has a charge, but more often than not you get free Specialty Dining Credits included in your fare. I ate here for free. My favorite part was when they made the guac right in front of you (gasp) with fresh items you choose from!! Absolutely delicious and nutritious. Also, excellent margarita!

My Balcony!

I know it costs more, but wow when you are in Glacier Bay for half the day and you can sit on your balcony and drink mimosas, watch the glaciers, and view tons of wildlife (I saw otters, Orcas, and a bald eagle). Nothing gets better than that! I cried once I was so overwhelmed with awe. I don’t think I will ever cruise again from an inside room.

Welp, that wasn’t easy. There’s so much to love on this ship and on all the other Norwegian Ships. Send me a request on the contact page and I can get you whatever information you need! Where will your next journey take you?
